Holy Week and Easter
Last Sunday, the Fifth and last Sunday of Lent before Holy Week, I encouraged our members to join me in reflecting upon what is the Main Thing we receive from God in his Covenants with us to be the Body of Christ in the world. I encouraged all of us to reflect on what is the "Main Thing" that we have deduced from our lifelong journey in the faith. I used as a starting point what was shared with me by the Bishop of my former Synod (the Central/Southern Illinois Synod) S. John Roth. He shared this with the whole (C/SIS) synod. It is what got me started on all this, and so I now share it with all of you – to get you individually – and us – as a congregation – by means of this newsletter to reflect and perhaps create a dialogue as to what is the Main Thing for us. So let us "spring" into action! (By the way – someone asked if these were only his words and thoughts, or were they my words and thoughts?) I share with you HIS words and thoughts as a way of helping each of us reflect upon what we feel is the Main Thing in our relationship with God and the Church – the Body of Christ in the world. I look forward to sharing with you the Week that is Holy. Peace & Courage, Pastor Hugh |
