Pastor Carolyn feels very much at home at Water of Life Lutheran Church, where she has been a member for twenty five years. In her former professional life Carolyn was a teacher, coach and administrator in the Augusta School Department. While a principal at Farrington Elementary School in Augusta she began a slow road toward ordination. She attended seminary classes at Bangor Theological Seminary. As a Lutheran candidate she affiliated with the Lutheran Seminary at Philadelphia. She took classes there and on line at Luther Seminary in Minnesota. Carolyn retired from education in 2010 and finished her seminary work.
Bishop James Hazelwood appointed Carolyn as a lay minister for Water of Life after Pastor Holm retired at the end of 2011. She began her work at Water of Life in January of 2012 and continued to work toward ordination. On October 12, 2014 Carolyn was ordained and officially became a rostered leader in the ELCA. Bishop Hazelwood preached at the ordination and began with the words, “It’s been a long and winding road…” referring to Pastor Carolyn’s road toward ordination.
Carolyn is married to Jack Crommett and together they live in Augusta. She has two children, Krista Chase and Seth Meyer, and four step children. Between them they have seven grandchildren.
